Create a VM from template

I will show through the following steps how to create a VM from template and install OS

Click “New VM”

Select the template for the new VM

Enter VM name that will help you to identify the virtual machine later

Select the OS installation method, I will select CD

Select the XenServer which will host the VM and the VM will always startup on it

In my lab environment I have only one server, but in production environment you may have many servers.

Assign HW resource to the VM, vCPU and memory, you will be able to modify it later

Configure storage for the new Vm; and alternatively you have the option to a diskless VM that can boot from network

I will modify the default disc size from 8GB to 20GB

Configure network for the Vm

Review the setting, make change if you need   and then click “Finish” to create the new VM

Install Operating system reate a VM from template

Now VM created and started on Citrix XenServer

Click Console Tab, Insert the bootable OS CD and reboot the VM
