How to Install mac OS X VM on VMWare Workstation running on a Windows host.
I will walk you through the steps for installing macOS Sierra (10.12 Beta), but the same steps work for 10.9 to 10.11
Before starting the installation download
1_ “Install OS X .app” from the App Store
2_ VMware Unlocker 2.0.8 or 2.0.7
I have VMware Workstation 12 pro installed on my windows PC
Click file – New Virtual Machine …
Choose custom (advanced)
Choose “Workstation 12.0” for the Hardware compatibility
As you noticed that there is no mac for the guest operating system
Install unlocker 2.0.8
Unzip the downloaded unlocker file and then run “win-install.cmd” with administrator privileges
Create Virtual Machine
Repeat steps above to create a Virtual Machine, and now you can see “Apple Mac OS X” on the guest operating system list (after installing the unlocker)
Choose “Apple Mac OS X” for guest OS and “macOS 10.12” for Version
Type Virtual Machine name and location
I will assign 2 MB ram, but I will recommend you to assign at least 4 MB
Keep the default for the Disk Type and click Next to continue
Select 40 GB for the disk size and “Store virtual disk as a single file”
Select 2 processor and USB 2.0 compatibility
Right click on .vmx file and open with text editor.
Change from “vituaualHW.version = ‘12’ to “vituaualHW.version = ‘10’
Add smc.version =”0”
Install macOS X
Start the VM and use the .iso image to boot
Select language
Click “Disk Utility “From Utilities tab
Select VMware Virtual disk and format
Click continue
Read and Agree to the term
Select the disk to install OS X and click continue
The installation will start and it will take 15 to 30 min depending on your HW
Configure macOS X
Select the country and click continue
Select your Keyboard
Select and configure network (Wi-Fi, Ethernet)
Enter connection information using static or DHCP IP Address
Follow on screen instruction to complete the configuration and click agree if you agree to the “Terms and Conditions”
Then create a Computer Account
Select your Time Zone from list and click continue
Click continue for couple time to complete setting up your mac
After installation completed, mac desktop eject the “OS X” image and install VMware tools
